Bonaire was awarded the Best Shore Diving Destination title. Bonaire also received honorable mentions in the categories Best Underwater Photography and Best Visibility. The magazine's November 2021 issue features the reader's choice awards.
Visitors to Bonaire can take advantage of the island's hiking trails and bike trails. The island even has a national park where you can view flamingos. The island has its own water filtering system that makes tap water safe. The island was home for 114 turtle nests in 2016, which is the highest number of nests in one season.

It is easy to get to dive sites because the fringing coral runs parallel to the island's leeward shore. The reef is shallow and warm, allowing for visibility to reach up to 80 feet/100 meters.
