Being a deep diver

best scuba diving in key west

Deep divers have the ability to dive to depths higher than those usually considered safe. You may need to adhere to local regulations. Additionally, you might have the opportunity to explore some the most beautiful underwater environments around the globe, including the Galapagos, Elphinstone Reef or the Blue Hole of Belize. You can read on to find out more about the different conditions that make deep diving an unforgettable experience.

Elphinstone Reef

Dive at Elphinstone Reef with a liveaboard to get the best experience underwater. This location allows you to dive backwards. You will need to be confident with your backward roll. You'll have more opportunity to see sharks and other marine life during early morning dives, when there are fewer people in the water. Also, tropical fish are more common. Additionally, you will have the chance to meet the resident Hawksbill turtle.

Blue Hole Belize

The Great Blue Hole, a huge marine sinkhole off Belize's coast, is the Great Blue Hole. This spectacular diving site is located close to Lighthouse Reef's center. The Great Blue Hole has a total surface area of 70.650 sq metres and is 124m below the waterline. Deep divers can experience some of the world's most beautiful underwater scenes in this area. Deep divers will love the cave-like environment of this Belize diving destination, where the water is warm and the visibility is high.

Galapagos

If you are looking for an adventurous and rewarding diving experience, consider becoming a deep diver at Galapagos. Galapagos Islands are home to incredible marine life. The water is often opaque and cold, making it difficult to see underwater. The cool season (June-November) is when the water temperature is cooler and the currents are stronger. This is the best time of year to dive in the Galapagos Islands. You can find this helpful guide to scuba diving the Galapagos Islands if you are unsure if you are ready.

Elphinstone

For its beautiful soft corals and vibrant marine life, dive the Elphinstone Reef. This reef measures 300 metres in length and is found between twenty and forty meters deep. It is also covered with sea whips, large sponges, gogonians, and sea whips. Drop in to the finger-shaped plateau for redtooth triggerfish and giant trevally. A hammerhead shark is possible, but it's rare and extremely elusive. The dive site is known for its clear waters and strong drift.

Belize Blue Hole

If you've ever dreamed of diving deep into the Caribbean Sea, then you've surely heard of the Great Blue Hole. The Blue Hole, located approximately 62 miles from Belize's mainland, is almost a perfect round hole. It is located at the Lighthouse Reef, about 125 m deep. It is a popular spot for snorkelers and scuba divers, but few people have ventured into its depths.

Elphinstone and his buddy group

Elphinstone, also called Elfinstone, can be used as a boat dive in Southern Egypt. This saltwater dive spot is located in Marsa Alam. It has a maximum depth 150 feet (46m). The visibility ranges from 61 to 70 feet (19 to 21 meters).
