Diving as a Sport

Divers must be prepared for the sport of diving. These are some important things to remember when you first start diving. Read about the dangers of back injuries and how to prepare for the sport of diving. You can also read the PADI and SSI dive statements. If you adhere to the rules, it can be an exciting and rewarding experience.

Diverse diving is a sport

Diverse divers are a popular activity for many reasons. Many people find that the experience is enjoyable and relaxing. Divers can do it regardless of their level of training or experience.

USA Diving's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council, made up of coaches, athletes, and thought leaders, will promote diversity within the sport. It will prioritize the inclusion of diverse athletes and staff and provide growth opportunities for diverse staff.

Preparation for diving as a sport

Diverse is for many more people than a hobby. An athlete must possess a set of skills in order to be eligible for the competition. Divers will be required to perform somersaults as well as twists to qualify to compete. There are a number of different ways to prepare for a meet, including learning about the sport's rules and regulations and using performance scientists and coaches.

The first thing you should do is to practice. Divers require a lot more energy than running or biking. A one-hour dive burns approximately 500 calories. Avoid eating empty stomachs and avoid eating fatty meals while diving. You will feel very dehydrated during a dive. It is important to drink plenty of water. Divers can also experience changes in the physiological functions of your body. This includes a decreased blood pressure, an increased heart rate, and an irresistible urge "to pee."

Risks of back injury

A back injury is one of the most dangerous injuries you can sustain while diving. During a dive, your body enters the pool at about 15 feet per second, and any impact on an object or obstruction can damage spinal cord tissue. You may also be able to twist your spine and neck too far, which could cause injury to nerves and ligaments.

Your risk of getting a back problem depends on the severity. You can minimize your chances of getting it by carefully adjusting how your weight is distributed. Lower back pressure can be reduced by having your weights close to your weight belt. You can also place the weights in the tank or in a pocket of your BCD.

PADI and SSSI diving certifications

There are many options for training agencies to choose from if you have decided to learn scuba diving. You will have to choose one or the other depending on your personal preference. The choice of agency could determine the direction of your diving career. If you are already a member of an SSI-affiliated diving center, it is likely that you will want to move to a PADI-affiliated. You might also want to learn from BSAC-certified friends.

SSI has grown steadily in the last couple of years, but it will still take many years before it can rival PADI in size. It has however made an important push into the online certification market. It now offers an app that lets divers log their dives and receive course materials from instructors. They can also view their qualifications. Although the app is similar in many ways to PADI Dive Explorer there are some key differences.
