Bob Hollis, a pioneer in the diving industry and a local legend, is a member of International Scuba Diving Hall of Fame. He started diving in the mid 1950s and discovered a passion for underwater photography. This hobby required special equipment. Hollis' engineering degree allowed him to design his own housings for underwater camera. Hollis established Anchor Shack, a Hayward-based store selling underwater cameras in 1965. He started receiving mail orders soon for his housings.

They have also been involved in the development of military diving equipment, including the MK-25, which is used by US Navy frogmen and other naval work divers.
Hollis Scuba Diving Equipment
Hollis is a manufacturer of diving equipment that is both technologically advanced and ergonomically designed. The company has the engineering skills to design equipment that meets the needs of both technical and sport divers. Hollis' scuba diving equipment uses cutting-edge materials made from proven technologies.
Recalled dive computer
Hollis has recalled two dive computers. One of the flaws in them can lead to drowning. The recalled dive computers have a faulty air flow control system that could cause the diver to lose control of their breathing underwater. These dive computers sold for an average of $1200 between November 2010, and July 2012. The factory can repair or replace the damaged units by returning them to the dealer.
